Let’s continue this trend of artist spotlights with another Florida Native, FloKid. At first listen, FloKid’s sound is similar to that of Wale. However, FloKid is his own man, his own wave, his own style. He has the versatility to create fun, upbeat songs like “Rolling Deep”, but he can slow it down and get personal on tracks like “Mama” and “Goin Thru It”. Anybody can rap about money, women, and drugs; but it takes a true artist to get personal and open up his world to his listeners.
FloKid has been rapping for about six years, and you can see the hardwork elevate his craft. His work has increasingly gotten stronger and this is clearly visible on his mixtape “Lil Jo-Z: A VP Story”, a nine track featureless project. FloKid raps a lot about his older brother who died, and as I mentioned before, this is how he allows his audience into his mind and his world by opening up and sharing his experiences. FloKid is very talented with a lot of potential, keep an eye out for him.
